Skincare and beauty products go hand in hand. As fun as it is to watch and read endless posts on different foundations, highlighters and concealers, the most important part of any beauty regime is taking care of your skin! When you don’t have a “problem” with your skin, it’s easy to forget to take the necessary steps in protecting it, but it’s much better to work preventatively when it comes to skincare. When I was younger, I thought using more than one product would take too much time and was seemingly unnecessary. I’ve learned throughout the years that layering products is the best way to make the most custom routine that perfectly fits our skin! (Just be sure not to use products that cancel each other out).
For this routine I started with the Cosmedix purity solution nourishing deep cleansing oil. If you’ve been following me for a while you are well aware of my obsession with oils and especially using oils as cleansers. I cleared up my acne by using the OCD ‘oil cleansing method’ and am a huge advocate for it…aka I tell everyone who will listen about how it changed my life! This cleanser works in a similar way. You simply take the product with dry hands and a dry face and rub it into your skin. Once you rinse with water it somewhat soaps up and rinses like a typical cleanser. The one issue I’ve had with the OCM is that it sometimes leaves oil residue on my skin if I don’t thoroughly rinse and will either get in my hair or just feel funky on my skin. This cleanser washes away perfectly due to the ability to soap up! I was mind blown the first time I used it and think I finally found my everyday cleanser that is SO much easier than taking my big containers of oil around with me!
Next up is my favorite part, a face mask! I am admittedly obsessed with face masks and really have to use self control to not let myself do them once, or multiple times, a day. The PUR blue agave energizing peel-off mask made my skin so fresh and clean I almost didn’t want to continue the rest of the routine so that I could rub my skin all day long. There’s just something so satisfying about peeling off the mask after it has dried. Like shedding my old skin and having fresh, perfect, new skin!
After the mask, I applied the Cosmedix Affirm Antioxidant Firming Serum. Serums are definitely a new addition to my skincare routine and I cannot believe it took me this long to work them in. I assumed it was an unnecessary step between cleanser and moisturizer and was only required for those with skin troubles. I have extremely sensitive skin so it easily gets read simply from the hot water in the shower and washing it. This serum helped soothe the redness and calm my skin after the mask before applying my makeup. The serum also helps your skin retain more moisture from your moisturizer! Huge bonus!
Now that our skin is prepped and read to go, it’s onto the makeup stage!
Combining the PUR No Filter Primer and PUR Bare It All 12 hour 4-in-1 Foundation. You can of course do these two steps separately but I found that combining them gives the perfect glow and also saves time, so that’s a bonus! Side note, I also love adding this primer to my ‘no makeup’ looks with my moisturizer because it not only blurs any lines and pores but also acts as a highlighter and makes your face glow in all the right places!
The next several steps are all from the same PUR Vanity Palette for Eyes and Cheeks. From looking up images for this post I actually discovered the mirror pops up making a perfectly little makeup station vanity for on the go and the shade is called Goal Digger which makes it even that much better! All of the products in this palette are extremely pigmented and brush on flawlessly but if you’re used to less pigmented product be sure to start with less so you don’t over do it.
Starting with ‘Motivation’ I applied this bronzer on my cheekbones and along my hair and jaw lines. I then used ‘Glambition’ for a warm blush and ‘Glow Getter’ on top of my cheek bones and the inner corners of my eyes for the perfect highlight accent. I kept the eyes pretty simple by adding ‘Aim High’ to my lid and brow bone and then lightly swept ’24/7′ to the crease of my eye. Next up, taking a small angled brush, I again used ’24/7′ and pressed it into my lash line creating a soft liner look. To finish the look I applied my PUR Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick in Oh Bae and I was ready to go!
