We’ve all been there. You roll over in the morning to look at your clock and realize you’ve overslept! In a mad dash you run around your room trying to get ready as quickly as possible. Sometimes you can get away with throwing on sweats and a hat and run out the door, but other times we are required to look presentable even with jut 5 minutes to get ready. Here’s my guide to getting ready in a mad dash!
The key is to multitask. Eliminating unnecessary steps and combining others will save you loads of time. Before brushing my teeth and washing my face, I’ll spray dry shampoo onto my hair and let it sit while I wash up. This allows to product to fully soak up any excess oils and odors. Afterwards, rub in the dry shampoo with your fingertips or a round brush to remove the white powder.
Now time for you face! My skin really shows it when I don’t get enough rest so this is the most important step when I’m running late. Be sure to use a multipurpose moisturizer to save steps in prepping your face. Rather than doing foundation and concealer separately, apply concealer under your eyes and to any spots and foundation onto the areas remaining. I also used the a primer and mixed it in with my foundation to save time as well. Simply use a beauty blender or a brush to blend all of this but be sure to start with the concealed areas and work out towards the foundation.
Next up to give your face a little definition, lightly sweep a bronzer on your cheekbones, jawline and along your hairline. I add this to the areas I typically would contour with just a lighter hand as to not overdo the product and make the bronzer overly cakey in comparison to the light foundation.
Next up I lightly filled in my brows to define the shape and swiped on a quick coat of mascara! Another thing to keep in mind when you’re in a hurry is to find a focus. Often times I will focus on one of following: outfit, hair or makeup. Also with makeup, focus on one area rather than a full face. Rather than wasting time and effort on eyeshadow and a flawless winged eyeliner, I chose to wear a lipstick which is easier and quicker to apply.
Now that we’ve finished with our face, onto the hair! I naturally have straight hair however it is extremely flat and lucks luster if I don’t do anything to it. Rather than using a flatiron and damaging my hair, I used a straightening brush to quickly run over my hair and add shine with just one pass. All we have left to do before running out the door is to get dressed! When running late, grab a go-to outfit that you already know looks great and you feel comfortable in. Stressing about coming up with a new outfit last minute isn’t worth it. I actually love throwing on a dress when I’m in a hurry. It’s one article of clothing which saves time, but also dresses for some reason give the illusion of actually putting an effort into your outfit! win win 🙂
Now let’s conquer the day! (after getting some coffee)
